The CoachEd Journey Welcomes You

Providing the support you need to grow, lead and navigate your journey with greater ease and confidence

Why does a coaching culture have such a positive impact on the performance of individuals and teams?

The earliest architecture of modern day professional coaching is found in the work of Timothy Gallwey who, in 1974, published work on The Inner Game of Tennis. Whilst focused on the sport of tennis it started to meaningfully unpack that elite performance needed the de-emphasising of the importance of skill instruction (it being assumed that this was already in place), in support of greater power and status being placed on the need to remove the internal barriers that might be interfering with performance.

The reality is that the greatest barrier to success sits within you and it is not the result of other forces. Where other fractious or impeading forces do exist, you are the one that needs to navigate around or through them. The key is to develop an awareness of yourself and what you, internally, are experiencing  to help you over come barriers and challenges The CoachEd Journey purpose is the help you navigate this with greater ease and confidence. .

About Me

Nick Burge

Committing to supporting others is the golden thread that weaves through the last 19 years of my professional career. Having had the privilege of leading three schools as Headteacher in Scottish Education, in both mainstream secondary and special education, I have seen first hand what can be achieved by others when supported with high quality coaching; I owe important  steps forward in my own journey to great coaching from others.

Over the last 15 years I feel fortunate to have been immersed in a range of different professional and performance environments; from ski instructing in the Scottish Highlands and being the manger of the Scotland women's rugby team, to collaborating with other adult and youth coaches in India. I have also enjoyed supporting aspiring Headteachers on the Masters in Education Leadership course at The University of Edinburgh. More recently I have completed 2 post graduate certificates, from the University of Edinburgh.

Through all of this I found one of many things to be true; we have a lot more answers than we think if we position ourselves correctly and get the climate for decision making and action taking optimised. It takes commitment from us to explore our awareness and find those answers. The support of a highly effective coach can be the key to unlocking and accelerating the process.

Why choose The CoachEd Journey

Whether you are leading a team of 1 or 100, there can be very similar challenges and opportunities that leaders and managers experience. As time passes and experience is gained it is also my experience the complexity of these challenges and opportunities evolve. It has been incredibly fulfilling coaching, middle and senior leaders for over a decade as they find their way through what can be turbulent and unpredictable waters of leadership.

Bespoke experience

Whilst there is no shortage of generic tools, models and handrails all available to you, the very nature of getting it right for you means the service needs to be bespoke. Everything from when sessions take place, how long they last and what they focus on is very much based on your needs and what you want from the process..

Accessible

Days are busy and sometimes money to invest in yourself can be limited without forward planning. This is why you can fit The CoachEd Journey into evenings and weekends and can spread out the payment for the service..  The purpose of these services is to build capacity without causing additional pressure - time and money for most is the pressure we feel most acutely so let's not make things worse!

Time to take the next step

For some, the decision to engage with the coaching process happens quickly; you know the benefits and the decision is now focussed on who to work with. For others, taking your first step into a coached relationship can bring some apprehension or nerves and even scepticism, so takes longer to decide. Both approaches are understandable. .

Let's start the conversation and the rest is up to you.
